Christian McDermott

Christian McDermott has worked in the industry for over a decade. From 2006 to 2012, they worked as a Consultant at Mott MacDonald. During this time, they were the co-project manager and lead coordinator for a team of 10 senior consultants designing the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure of Masdar City (eco-city), within a wider project team of 150+ engineers. Christian also facilitated numerous interviews and workshops with senior technicians and consultants in healthcare, education and local Government sectors, and supported the National Project Manager in a 100+ team on a £350 million UK Fire and Rescue Service communications network replacement programme. From 2012 to present, they have worked at Voovio as a Global Market Coordinator, North American Market Coordinator, Country Manager for the USA, and Country Manager for the UK. In their role as North American Market Coordinator, they were the link between the European and North American businesses, overseeing sales team, Houston office and market operations. Christian's goal was to bring Enhanced Reality simulation to every manufacturing plant to address the industry-wide pains of unplanned events and attrition. As Country Manager for the USA, they introduced Enhanced Reality simulation to the North American process industry and established the Houston office.

Christian McDermott's education history includes a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from IESE Business School (2010-2012), an MSc in International Public Policy from UCL (2004-2005), a BA (Hons) in European Social and Political Studies, and German from UCL (2000-2004), an Erasmus Exchange from Humboldt Universitaet Berlin (2002-2003), a Diploma in Art Foundation from City & Guilds of London Art School (1999-2000), and A-Levels and GCSE from Ampleforth College (1994-1999).
