Michael Mwaura

Michael Mwaura has a diverse work experience in the fields of design, user experience, and technology. Michael is currently the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer at The Archangel Interactive, where they provide strategic direction to the Research, Design & User Experience Department. Michael also served as the Design Manager and Senior Designer at the same company.

In addition to their role at The Archangel Interactive, Michael has also worked at Vumicentral as a Product Designer & Chief Technology Officer, leading the product strategy, design, and development of Vumi Central. Michael also worked as a Product Development Consultant at the same company.

Michael's work experience also includes roles at Africa Digital Media Institute (ADMI), where they served as Adjunct Faculty/Instructor for Graphic Design and Rubika Game Development Departments. Michael designed the first foundational User Experience Design curriculum for all Level 5 students nationwide.

Furthermore, they worked at Africa Digital Media Studios (ADMS) as a Product Designer, where they redesigned and developed the user interface for the Vumi Watch platform. Michael also worked as a Web and UI/UX Designer at Belva Digital, Founder/Designer of KSMS Digital Team at Kenya School of Monetary Studies, and Web Designer & Administrator at ICIPE - International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology.

Earlier in their career, Michael served as a Graphic Designer for Kenya Model United Nations and Defram Photo & Studio.

Overall, Michael Mwaura has a strong background in design, user experience, and technology, with experience in managing teams, developing user interfaces, leading product strategies, and designing curriculum.

Michael Mwaura pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Technology/Computer Systems Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology from 2010 to 2014. Additionally, in 2010, they studied 3D Animation and Multimedia at Shang Tao College of Arts. Michael obtained certifications in Software Project Management Foundations and Managing Project Stakeholders from LinkedIn in September 2022 and July 2022, respectively. Michael also became an Enterprise Design Thinking Practitioner through IBM in May 2022.
