You will…
- Lead and own the creation, documentation, alignment and verification of all behavioral system requirements at Waabi with a strong understanding of vehicle behaviors and interactions and how to describe and evaluate them efficiently and effectively.
- Act as a central point of contact at Waabi for all matters related to behavioral requirements and related scenario sets and communicate updates, progress and potential roadblocks to stakeholders at all levels.
- Help drive Waabi’s safety culture through application of safety standards and methodologies in your area of responsibility across all supporting teams at Waabi including Systems Engineering, Hardware and Software.
- Define all necessary improvements for our highly realistic simulator to effectively verify all driving behaviors under all required conditions and work with other teams at Waabi to get these improvements designed and implemented.
- Own the overall concept for how we document and link all product requirements, system requirements, tests and test executions for all aspects of the highly autonomous vehicle.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance Waabi’s behavioral evaluation capabilities, look for novel approaches, identify and apply lessons learned and ensure a detailed and comprehensive documentation that is easily accessible.
- Implement tools and methodologies to streamline and automate the behavioral requirement processes where applicable.
- Work with external partners on gathering data and information related to driving behaviors of trucks as well as on supporting a strong safety case for the complete self-driving system.
- Lead a team of experienced and skilled systems engineers and ensure they stay hungry to grow in their roles.
Qualifications:
- Undergrad required; Masters or PhD within an engineering discipline preferred.
- 5+ years of automotive, robotics, aerospace or related industry experience.
- Experience with requirements and metrics for driving behavior evaluations.
- Experience with building complex driving behavior scenarios.
- Experience with methods and standards such as STPA, SOTIF (ISO 21448) and / or UL 4600.
- Strong fundamentals in mathematics, engineering and physics.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts or data in a simple-yet-accurate manner.
- Excellent data analysis skills with modern tools such as Python or Matlab.
- Open-minded and collaborative leader who is eager to provide guidance and has the - willingness to help others.
- Passionate about self-driving technologies, solving hard problems, and creating innovative solutions.
Bonus/nice to have:
- Experience in launching a driverless product.
- Experience in leading small teams of systems engineers.
- Experience in the automotive self driving industry.
- Experience building software systems from scratch.
- Experience in robotics or machine learning.
- Proficiency with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis.
The US yearly salary range for this role is: $151,000 - $270,000 USD in addition to competitive perks & benefits. Waabi (US) Inc.’s yearly salary ranges are determined based on several factors in accordance with the Company’s compensation practices. The salary base range is reflective of the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Note: The Company provides additional compensation for employees in this role, including equity incentive awards and an annual performance bonus.
