Alpan Raval

Alpan Raval has extensive work experience in the field of AI/ML. They have worked as the Chief Scientist, AI/ML at Wadhwani AI since May 2021. Prior to that, they held the position of Head of Data Science at the same company from January 2019 to May 2021. Before joining Wadhwani AI, Alpan Raval worked at LinkedIn as a Senior Manager, Machine Learning from November 2017 to December 2018, and as a Manager, Content Quality & Multimedia Machine Learning from August 2016 to November 2017. They also worked at Amazon as a Senior Machine Learning Scientist from July 2015 to July 2016. Prior to their industry roles, Alpan Raval worked at D. E. Shaw Research as a Research Scientist & Member of Technical Staff from July 2009 to June 2015. They also had academic experience as an Associate Professor at Keck Graduate Institute & Claremont Graduate University from July 2008 to June 2009, as an Assistant Professor from July 2002 to June 2008, and as a Postdoctoral Fellow from September 2000 to June 2002. Additionally, Alpan Raval worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Wisconsin from September 1996 to August 2000.

Alpan Raval completed a PhD in Physics at the University of Maryland from 1990 to 1996. Prior to that, they pursued a 5-year integrated program in Physics at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur from 1985 to 1990, earning an M.Sc. degree.
