Jason Ake

Jason Ake is an experienced professional in communications and Māori engagement, currently serving as a Panel Member for the Ministerial Advisory Panel on Māori Education and as a member of the Māori Committee for the New Zealand Law Commission. Since December 2017, Jason has held the position of General Manager of Communications and Engagement at Waikato Tainui, where leadership of a communications and marketing team is a key responsibility. Jason has also served as Chairperson for the Māori Media Sector Shift panel and led the Māori team in the Social Housing Programme at The Treasury. With a history of roles focused on Māori engagement across various sectors, including as an iwi engagement specialist for ExxonMobil and a strategic Māori communications consultant for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Jason brings extensive expertise in public relations and strategic advice related to Māori interests.
