Philip Brown is a Research Associate Professor at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where responsibilities include medical device design and testing, surgical robotics involving the daVinci DVRK, and surgical biomechanics focused on spine and long bones. Since January 2017, Philip has served as the Director of the Translational Engineering and Design Core Lab at Wake Forest Baptist Health and has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte since January 2024. Philip also holds the position of Chief Science Officer at Open Standard Industries, Inc., starting in September 2020. Previous roles include Graduate Research Assistant at Wake Forest Baptist Health and teaching assistant in CAD-CAM and rapid prototyping at UNC Charlotte, as well as internships in engineering and biomechanics at Carolinas Healthcare System and Schaeffler. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Orthopedic Biomechanics and Engineering and an MS in Biomedical Engineering from Wake Forest University, along with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
