Debbi Jarvis is Vice President and Chief Communications Officer. In this role, Debbi is responsible for all corporate communications functions, focusing on the design and execution of a multifaceted communications strategy to promote Washington Gas and the broader AltaGas enterprise. Leading both internal and external communications, her role encompasses media relations, enhancing brand recognition, advancing environment, social and governance (ESG) reporting, and supporting the overall vision, mission and values of the enterprise.

Debbi has over 25 years’ experience as a Communications and Corporate Relations executive, including substantial experience in a regulated utility environment, with a proven ability to lead teams. She is an experienced business leader and counselor to C-suite executives on image and reputation, crisis communications and management, strategic brand building and advertising, media relations, cause marketing, community engagement, strategic philanthropy, CSR (corporate social responsibility) and ESG. With proven skills in a full range of communications including, media relations, presentation & public speaking, advertising / marketing, and corporate video production.

Debbi most recently served as Senior Vice President Corporate Relations at Howard University where she was recruited by the HU President to serve on Cabinet and create the HU Office of Corporate Relations to focus on corporate relationship building.

Prior to joining Howard in 2018, Debbi spent 14 years with Pepco Holdings, Inc, an Exelon Company, serving in many capacities during her tenure including Vice President Corporate Communications, Vice President Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Social Responsibility and Vice President Corporate Relations.

Debbi holds a Bachelor of Arts, International Business degree from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. Pursued Graduate Studies in Broadcast Journalism from American University and other ongoing executive education courses at Harvard Business School and Howard University.
