Carlie Fisherow

Carlie Fisherow has a strong background in education and non-profit leadership. Carlie currently serves as the Executive Director of Washington Yu Ying Public Charter School. Before this role, Carlie was the Chief of Staff at the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education from November 2019 to September 2022. Carlie also explored new opportunities in education and non-profit leadership while self-employed from July 2019 to November 2019.

Prior to these roles, Carlie gained significant experience in school leadership. Carlie served as the Principal of District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) from July 2017 to June 2019 and as the CEO/Executive Director of DC Scholars Community Schools from July 2016 to June 2018. Carlie also held various positions at Scholar Academies, including Regional Director, Chief Academic Officer, and Managing Director of Academics from July 2013 to July 2016.

Carlie's career in education began as a Founding Principal at Excel Academy Public Charter School from July 2007 to May 2010. Carlie also worked as a Founding Teacher at AIM Academy, part of KIPP DC, from July 2005 to June 2007. Carlie started their teaching career as a Middle School English Teacher at District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) from August 2003 to July 2005.

Carlie Fisherow received a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from Georgetown University in 2003. Carlie then pursued a Master's degree in Secondary Education and Teaching from American University, which they completed in 2007.
