Celeste Cantú has a diverse range of work experience in the water management and education sectors. Celeste is currently serving as the Chair of the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board since November 2018. Prior to this role, they were a Board Member and Vice President at The Water Foundation starting from October 2017. Cantú has also served as a Member of the Board of Advisors at the UC President Advisors Council Agriculture, Natural Resources since October 2019. Celeste has held leadership positions such as Advisory Council President at the PPIC Water Policy Center and Vice President at the Water Education Foundation. Cantú has also worked as a Facilitator at the Water Solutions Network and held roles as a Board Member in organizations such as the Riverside Community College Foundation and Think Together. Notably, they served as the General Manager of the Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority from December 2006 to July 2017.
Celeste Cantú obtained their MPA degree from Harvard Kennedy School in 1992-1993. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in the Study of the City at Yale University, from 1973 to 1977. Celeste also received a high school diploma from Calexico High School in 1969-1973.
