Adnan Hakeem has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of development and humanitarian work. Adnan started their career in 2006 as an Area Coordinator for the UN-HABITAT Pakistan, where they supervised the implementation of the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Project. Their role included mobilizing communities, capacity building, and promoting earthquake resistant construction.
In 2009, Adnan joined the National Rural Support Programme as a Program Officer, where they focused on implementing the Reproductive Health and Family Planning Project in the District Rajanpur.
Adnan then moved to Médecins du Monde in 2010 as a Program Coordinator. Adnan supervised the project "Healing the Wounds of Domestic Violence in Punjab" and managed a team of doctors, psychologists, lawyers, and social work officers.
In the same year, Adnan joined the International Organization for Migration (IOM) as a Senior Operations Coordinator, leading emergency response projects for the 2010 floods in Pakistan. Adnan also served as an Area Development Officer for IOM, focusing on development initiatives.
From 2011 to 2012, Adnan worked as a Field Coordinator for UN-HABITAT Pakistan, overseeing the implementation of the Pakistan Settlement Flood Recovery Project in District Muzaffargarh.
In 2012, Adnan joined RSPN as a Capacity Building Specialist, leading a team responsible for training staff of implementing partners on sanitation programs in Pakistan.
Adnan then joined Save the Children International in 2015 as a Project Manager, overseeing project implementation.
From 2017 to 2019, Adnan worked as a Stakeholder Engagement Advisor for Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
Currently, Adnan is employed at WaterAid as a Programme Manager - Urban WASH, where they are responsible for managing urban water, sanitation, and hygiene programs.

Adnan Hakeem began their education at Bahauddin Zakariya University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Biology and Chemistry, graduating in the year 2000. Adnan then pursued further studies at Allama Iqbal Open University, where they earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Gender & Women's Studies, completing the program from 2010 to 2012. Adnan's academic journey continued at Bahauddin Zakariya University, where they pursued a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree in Gender Studies, graduating in 2015. In 2016, they enrolled at The University of Queensland for a Master's degree in Integrated Water Management, which they completed in 2017. Additionally, Adnan also obtained a MIWM (Master of Integrated Water Management) degree from The University of Queensland during the same period.
