Finance Officer at WaterAid

James Hanson Chintengo has a work history that spans several years and includes diverse roles. James Hanson initially worked as a Finance Officer for the Malawi Council of Churches from April 2013 to March 2016. James Hanson then transitioned to a similar role at WaterAid, where they started as an Assistant Finance Officer in April 2016. At WaterAid, their responsibilities included processing transactions, ensuring accurate cashbooks, managing accounts payables and bills, and meeting tax obligations. James Hanson later served as an Acting Finance Officer from November 2020 to February 2021, before being promoted to the position of Finance Officer in March 2021. In addition to their financial roles, James also had experience in the education sector. From January 2009 to March 2013, they worked as the Head of the Social Sciences Department at Bambino High School. In this capacity, they led a team of teachers, formulated and implemented departmental policies, and supervised staff while also overseeing the checking of schemes and records of work.

James Hanson Chintengo has a strong educational background in the field of accounting and finance. James Hanson began their academic journey in 2010 at the Malawi College of Accountancy, where they obtained a Diploma in Accounting in August 2012. Following this achievement, they furthered their studies at the Malawi College of Accountancy and completed a Bachelor of Applied Accounting degree specializing in Auditing and Information Systems between the years 2014 and 2016.

Seeking to expand their knowledge and skills even further, Chintengo pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at the Malawi Institute of Management from 2020 to 2022, specializing in Business Administration and Management.

Notably, they are currently enrolled at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi, where they are working towards becoming a Chartered Accountant. This program, which began in 2018 and is expected to conclude in 2024, focuses on Accounting and Finance.

In addition to their educational pursuits, Chintengo holds a Diploma in Accounting from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Malawi, obtained in August 2012. This certification further solidifies their expertise in the field of accounting.
