David Morrissey is the Assistant Head of Department for Architecture & Built Environment at Waterford Institute of Technology. David has over four years of experience in buildings and facility management, as well as health and safety coordination. Prior to their current position, Morrissey worked for Brothers of Charity Services Ireland as their Buildings & Facilities Manager, H&S Coordinator, and AHB Director. In these roles, they were responsible for financial forecasting and budgeting for new building projects, refurbishments, and construction maintenance. David also oversaw the acquisition of new properties, the disposal of properties no longer fit for purpose, and the planning and execution of construction and renovation works. Additionally, Morrissey managed leased and rented properties, oversaw tendering processes for maintenance and building works, and ensured that all properties met current regulations. David also participated in the planning and preparation of reports for proposed new development projects, liaising with external design teams, contractors, and local government.
David Morrissey has a Master of Engineering Science from University College Cork, a Chartered Building Engineer C. Build E. / Chartered Fellow (FCABE) from the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE), and a Chartered Construction Manager - MCIOB from the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). David also has a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management & Engineering from the Waterford Institute of Technology. In addition, they are certified by the Chartered Association of Building Engineers in Chartered Building Engineer C. Build E. and Chartered Fellow FCABE, by The CIOB Academy in Construction Ethics & Compliance, by Operam Academy in Information Management Practitioner, by Procore Technologies in Procore Certification: Procore Administrator, and by Engineers Ireland in Engineers Ireland Ordinary Member - MIEI.
