Joel Pires

Joel Pires is a data scientist at Hero Labs. Joel has also worked as a machine learning engineer at Tellspec, an AI researcher at CISUC - Centre for Informatics and Systems of the University of Coimbra, and a software developer summer intern and software engineer trainee at Ubiwhere and jeknowledge, respectively.

Joel's responsibilities have included fine-tuning ML models in a django web-app and helping to render visualizations on the frontend in React. Joel has also implemented and researched for the best machine learning solutions to infer mobility patterns in cities through GIS and GPS data, published and presented scientific articles in AI conferences, and met with potential European partners and consortiums. Additionally, they have developed a dashboard's backend with statistics of the jeknowledge's social accounts (Facebook, Slack, Vimeo, Github, etc.) under a Scrum methodology.

Joel Pires has a MSc. in Artificial Intelligence Engineering from Universidade de Coimbra and a Licentiate degree in Computer Science from the same school.

They work with Pawel Matuszczak - Software Developer, Anna Dobrowolska - Software Developer, and Piotr Karpik - Software Developer. Their manager is Tomas Dusoudil, CTO.
