Henry Ekelund is an engineer at Wattpad. Henry previously worked as a DevOps Engineer at SOTI from May 2017 to September 2020. At SOTI, Henry was responsible for the creation and maintenance of CI/CD processes in both Jenkins and GoCD for a multitude of SOTI products and internal tools, using a variety of scripting languages such as PowerShell (3, 5 and Core), bash, and Python.
Henry spearheaded an initiative towards using Infrastructure as Code design principles. Henry introduced or extended the usage of tools such as Packer, Chef, TestKitchen, and AWS CloudFormation. This initiative was focused on the build system, but they also leveraged IaC principals to administer SonarQube, ELKStack, HashiCorp Vault, Jenkins, and JFrog Artifactory as well as integrate them into our CI/CD processes.
Henry acted as a sysadmin for the above services for internal access, with high availability requirements and high load. Henry was heavily involved, and one of the main proponents of the creation of pre-flight gated CI for SOTI’s flagship product, MobiControl. The introduction of the gated CI allowed for 9.5x increase in day to day occurrence of builds passing Acceptance testing, allowing QA to validate substantially more frequently.
Henry Ekelund attained their Bachelor of Science from the University Of Toronto in the field of computer science.
They are on a team with Muhammad Bajwa - Associate Engineer, Yufei Ge - Associate Engineer, and Phoebe Bugash - Associate Engineer. Henry Ekelund reports to David Choi, Associate Engineering Director.
