Brian Shotwell is the current Executive Director at Waubonsie Mental Health Center. Prior to this, they were with Waubonsie Health Center from March 2018 to April 2021, where they served as Executive Director. Brian has been credited with successfully converting the entire operation to telehealth during COVID-19, without any revenue loss and even adding to staff while others were downsizing. Brian has also been successful in leading the operations center with 6 geographically separated locations in southwest Iowa, and recovering $1.2M of uncollected revenue (40% of the annual revenue).
In Brian's first year, they guided the organization from a $370K loss to a $70K profitable operation. Brian did this by authoring a strategic operational plan that addressed operational deficiencies and by establishing productivity standards. Brian also enacted a "screen in" philosophy that tripled utilization in one month compared to the previous 2 years. Lastly, Brian created the first-ever cost allocation accounting system to ensure that goals for revenue departments were properly identified and staff was right-sized.
As Executive Director, Brian has hiring authority for physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, social workers and mental health professionals.
