Lori Benso

Lori Benso is currently the Commercial & Corporate Counsel at Waymark, and has held this position since November of 2022. Prior to their current role, Ms. Benso served as the Executive Director of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce Healthcare Council from January of 2021 to November of 2022. Before that, they were Counsel at McClain & Canoy, LLC from January of 2020 to November of 2022. Ms. Benso has also been a Member at Strategic Health Law from January of 2019 to March of 2020.

Ms. Benso’s experience also includes working as the SVP Corporate Affairs and General Counsel at Health Alliance Medical Plans from July of 2003 to September of 2018. In this role, they were responsible for serving as General Counsel to the corporation, CEO, Board of Directors and all levels of executive staff. Additionally, they were in charge of the company’s compliance, including multiple state and federal regulatory activity, HIPAA compliance, fraud waste and abuse, security, Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plans. Furthermore, Ms. Benso oversaw the company’s government relations, including coordination of legislative, lobbying, political activities and maintaining relationships with state and federal officials.

Ms. Benso has a long history of experience in the legal field, and has worked diligently to provide their clients with the best possible service. Lori is a skilled negotiator and has successfully negotiated multiple IT outside vendor contracts valued at over $40 million. Additionally, they have experience in managing risk,

Lori Benso has a JD from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law and a BA in Political Science, Business, Lori'story from Eastern Illinois University. Lori also attended Divernon High School.
