Meredith Shimer

Meredith Shimer is a seasoned multimedia journalist currently serving as a weekend anchor and MMJ at WBKO News since January 2024, responsible for producing and anchoring weekend shows while fulfilling multimedia journalist duties for nightly weekday broadcasts. Previously, Meredith excelled as a Museum Interpreter at the Bellamy-Ferriday House & Garden, where outstanding membership sales performance earned a Top Sales award and leadership as the new membership sales leader for 2022. Additional experience includes a Zero Waste Internship at American University, serving as an Exam Proctor at the Washington College of Law, and an Editorial Fellowship at District Fray Magazine, wherein content creation for a substantial subscriber base was a key focus. Early career roles included leadership in education-focused initiatives with DC Reads and customer service positions at the Redding Country Club and The Yankee Candle Company. Meredith holds a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from American University, awarded in May 2023.
