Mike Augustyniak

Mike Augustyniak has worked in various roles throughout their career. Mike started in 2000 as a Meteorologist at WCWN/WRGB, where they delivered forecasts during live newscasts and handled system maintenance and training. In 2008, Mike joined WCCO-AM/KMNB-FM as a Meteorologist, a position they held until 2017. At WCCO-TV, where they have been the Director of Meteorology since 2008, Mike creates and presents weather content for multiple platforms and is known for their innovative storytelling methods. Mike also founded and manages the Emmy Award-winning Weather Watcher Network. Mike has also been involved with the American Meteorological Society, serving as a Commissioner on Professional Affairs and Chairman of the Board for Private Sector Meteorologists. In addition to their work in meteorology, Mike has been an Adjunct Professor at St. Cloud State University and a Contributor to Twin Cities Pride Magazine. Mike also runs their own consulting business, Escape Plan Partners, LLC, where they assist organizations with climate-related strategies and provides weather decision support for events.

Mike Augustyniak earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology from the University at Albany, SUNY, which they attended from 1996 to 2000. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in the same field at the same institution, from 2000 to 2008. Mike has also obtained additional certifications throughout their career, including the Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM) from the American Meteorological Society, which they earned in April 2021. Mike also holds the AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist certification, achieved in June 2018, and the American Meteorological Society Broadcast Seal, obtained in January 2001.
