Eileen Hays-Schwantes has an extensive work experience in the field of software engineering and sustainability. Eileen began their career in 2009 as a Project Assistant at Enertek Sustainable Design and Technology, where they conducted research and prepared documentation for building projects to achieve LEED certification. In 2011, they worked as a Graduate Student Researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, researching policy opportunities for two Indian cities. From 2012 to 2013, they held roles at the California Air Resources Board as a Student Policy Analyst and at Thomson Reuters Point Carbon as a Carbon Analyst. During this time, they evaluated the impact of policies and other events relating to California's greenhouse gas cap-and-trade programs, and forecasted the future outcome on the carbon market. From 2013 to 2015, they were a Program Manager, Utilities & Grid Services at Sunverge Energy, Inc., where they managed integration of Sunverge's software with utilities' management systems to automate battery product functions. From 2018 to 2022, they worked as a Software Engineer at Lyft and WeaveGrid.
Eileen Hays-Schwantes has a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from the University of California, Berkeley, with a field of study in Renewable Energy and Climate Policy. Eileen also holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Urban and Regional Planning. In 2017, they completed a course at Hackbright Academy in Computer Software Engineering.
