Elif Sonel

Elif Sonel, MD, has a diverse and extensive work experience. Elif is currently working as the Community Medical Director at WellBe Senior Medical. Prior to this, they served as the Market Medical Director at AbsoluteCare from 2022 to 2023. Before that, Dr. Sonel worked at UPMC as an Internal Medicine Specialist from 2020 to 2022, where they provided primary care for a complex geriatric population and also served as the Quality Lead of the site. Elif started their career in 2006 at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where they held various leadership roles, including Chief of Medicine Specialty, Chief of Compensation and Pension & Occupational Health Department, and Section Chief of Primary Care. In these positions, Dr. Sonel oversaw disability benefits examinations, collaborated with regional offices, provided separation physical exams for soldiers, and supervised a team of physicians and CRNP/PAs.

Elif Sonel, MD completed their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at Hacettepe University from 1985 to 1991. Elif then continued their education at Indiana University School of Medicine, where they completed their Internal Medicine Residency from 1993 to 1996. Following that, they pursued a General Internal Medicine Fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine from 1996 to 1998.
