Felipe Colón is the Technology Lead at Wellcome Trust. Prior to this, they were an Assistant Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine from January 2019 to February 2022. Felipe's research focus is on disease modelling and forecasting. From April 2012 to March 2015, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics. From October 2008 to January 2013, they were a PhD researcher at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research. From March 2015 to January 2019, they were a Senior Research Associate at the University of East Anglia, where they contributed to the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Health Protection Research Unit in Emergency Preparedness and Response in enhancing real-time syndromic surveillance for the early detection of incidents and outbreaks of public health importance.
Dr. Felipe Colón is a climate change and human health researcher who earned their Ph.D. from the University of East Anglia. Felipe also holds an MSc in environmental sciences from the same school, as well as a BSc in veterinary medicine and zootechny from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. In addition to their academic credentials, Dr. Colón has completed several Coursera courses in data science, earning certificates in areas such as practical machine learning, regression models, statistical inference, reproducible research, exploratory data analysis, and getting and cleaning data.
