John Pope, Ph.D is President and CEO of WellDog. Pope founded WellDog in 1999 to focus on geochemical sensing of coal seams. Under his leadership, WellDog invented a new reservoir analysis technology, evolved into a vertically integrated CSG service provider, and expanded into the international coal seam gas, coal mining and conventional oil and gas sectors. Pope was appointed by the Governor to the Wyoming CBM Water Use Task Force from 2005-2007 and to the U.S. Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission in 2006. Pope holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Wyoming and a B.S. in Physics from the University of Missouri-Rolla/Missouri Mines. He has worked at Monsanto Chemical Company and Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology. Pope has started and grown a number of companies in diverse industries, including a small CSG operator in Wyoming. John holds several patents in the US and Australia and has published dozens of technical papers. He currently splits time between Wyoming and Queensland.
