Dan Chaffee began their career in 2000 as a Developer at Harris Corporation, where they worked on various projects involving web-based applications, image access, retrieval, and dissemination tools. Dan then became a Lead Developer for the Geospatial Discovery Service project and later served as a System Architect for the GEOINT Online tool. In 2010, they worked as a SCRUM Master and Team Leader for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Pathways project. From 2011 to 2012, they served as a Software Architect and SCRUM Master for Health and Status IR&D at Harris Corporation. In 2012, they joined Peake Healthcare Innovations as a Product Owner and Software Architect for the Medical Imaging Management System. Dan then worked at Harris Corporation again from 2013 to 2014 as a Senior Product Architect, driving architecture definition and solving critical performance issues. From 2014 to 2015, they joined QSI | NextGen Healthcare as a Senior Software Architect, responsible for feature design and architectural documentation of an ambulatory EHR platform. In 2016, they became a Principal Software Engineer at Allscripts, where they led the design and development of a patient portal and corporate wellness application. Dan later worked at Thales as an Engineering Manager from 2018 to 2019 before taking a sabbatical to sail the world with their family. Currently, they are an Engineering Manager at WellHive, starting from 2023.
Dan Chaffee completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Florida between the years 1995 and 1999. Additionally, they hold certifications as a Certified Java Programmer from Oracle, and as a Scrum Master from 3Back LLC.
