Philip D. Hess

Mr. Hess was appointed to his current role in January 2016. As in his previous role as CEO of Philhaven, he is responsible for strategy and operations of all Philhaven behavioral health services. Philhaven is the 14th largest behavioral healthcare provider in the U.S.

He came to Philhaven in 1988 as the Assistant to the Medical Director and has served in various positions, including Director of Operations and Chief Operating Officer, assuming the role of CEO in 2009. He has been a leader in fostering collaboration between providers to better serve the mental health needs of more people in the community.

Mr. Hess holds a master’s degree in health administration from Duke University. He has many community affiliations, including serving on the boards of Mental Health America of Lancaster, Advanced Metric Systems, United Way of Lebanon County and the Ephrata Area Education Foundation.
