Melissa Wargo

Melissa Wargo is the Chief of Staff at Western Carolina University. Melissa has over 20 years of experience in higher education, including extensive experience in assessment and institutional research.

Wargo began their career in higher education as an Institutional Research Assistant at the University of Texas at Arlington. Melissa later became the Coordinator of State Reports/Institutional Research Associate and then the Director of Assessment at Texas Christian University.

In 2006, Wargo left Texas Christian University to become the Coordinator for Institutional Research and Assessment at Oklahoma State University-OKC. Melissa held this position for two years before returning to the University of Texas at Arlington as the Coodinator of State Reports/Institutional Research Associate.

Wargo has been with Western Carolina University since January of 2006, first serving as the Director of Assessment before being promoted to their current role as Chief of Staff.

Melissa Wargo works with H. Samuel Miller - Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Alex Gary - Director of Athletics, and Craig Fowler - Chief Information Officer. Melissa Wargo reports to Kelli R. Brown, Chancellor.
