Andrea Giuffrida

Andrea Giuffrida, PhD, MBA, currently serves as the Senior Vice President for Research & Biotechnology at Western University of Health Sciences, a position held since July 2023. Previously, Andrea was Vice President for Strategic Industry Ventures at UT Health San Antonio from September 2010 to July 2023, overseeing the Office of Technology Commercialization and promoting economic development and entrepreneurship. Andrea has held various academic roles, including Professor of Pharmacology, with research focused on neuropharmacology, cannabinoids, and molecular mechanisms of diseases. Additional experience includes serving as an AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow at the National Institutes of Health, and various research positions at UC Irvine and The Neurosciences Institute. Andrea holds an Executive MBA from The University of Texas at San Antonio and multiple degrees in biology and natural sciences from Università di Siena and Università di Catania.
