Derek Teterenko

Derek Teterenko has a strong background in technology and IT management. Derek currently works at WestJet as the Vice President - Commercial Technology Solutions, where they lead a team focused on transforming the company's technology landscape to enhance customer experiences and generate revenue. Prior to this role, they served as the Interim Vice President - Commercial & Corporate Technology Solutions and the Director of Commercial & Corporate Technology at WestJet.

Before joining WestJet, Derek worked at Shell for a significant portion of their career. Derek held various roles including Unconventionals IT Services and Operations Manager (SOM), In-Situ IM & IT Manager, Heavy Oil Business Analyst, Upstream Information Risk Analyst, and IT Security Analyst. During their time at Shell, they gained extensive experience in managing IT operations, delivering IT solutions, and ensuring information security across different business units and global portfolios.

Additionally, Derek has worked as an Information Protection Centre Intern at the Government of Manitoba. Overall, they have a diverse range of experience in technology leadership and IT management roles in both the private and public sectors.

Derek Teterenko completed their Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Global Business Strategy and Finance from Queen's University in 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science from the University of Manitoba in 2005. Derek also holds additional certifications, including Business Fundamentals in China from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in 2017, ITIL v3 Foundations from Global Knowledge Canada in 2016, LEAN Six Sigma Practitioner from Accenture in 2013, and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from (ISC)² in 2007.
