Loren L Swearingen

Loren L Swearingen has extensive experience in the chemical industry, having worked for various companies over the years. Starting in 1976, Swearingen worked as a Quality Control / Laboratory Chemist at Universal Oil Products. In 1979, Swearingen joined The Dow Chemical Company as a Sr. Research Engineer, responsible for process development and pilot plant management. Swearingen then moved on to Glitsch (now Koch-Glitsch) in 1988, where they served as a Sr. Process Engineer, Pilot Plant Manager, and Department IT Manager. At Sandoz Agro (now BASF Agro), Swearingen worked as a Sr. Process Engineer with process design responsibilities and served as a Project, Production, Process Controls Engineer, and Pilot Plant Manager. Swearingen then joined BioLab (Great Lakes) in 1996 as a Sr. Process Engineer, where they also functioned as a Project Manager, Plant Process Engineer, and Instrumentation Engineer. Currently, Swearingen works at Westlake Chemical as a Principal Engineer, responsible for production and process engineering for the Styrene Unit. Throughout their career, Swearingen has achieved numerous accomplishments, including implementing energy reduction projects, debottlenecking processes, managing projects with significant cost savings, and providing leadership as an acting plant manager.

Loren L Swearingen started their education at Ouachita Baptist University in 1972, where they majored in Chemistry until 1974. They then transferred to Arkansas Tech University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry between 1975 and 1976. Loren later attended Oklahoma State University from 1978 to 1979, where they pursued Chemical Engineering and completed 12 Graduate Hours towards their B.S. degree.
