Mike Lucas

Dr. Mike Lucas officially began his work as Superintendent of Westside Community Schools in June 2019. His career achievements include the Nebraska FFA Cornerstone Leadership Award and the Dale and Tom Hayes Award for outstanding educational leadership, and he came to Westside with well wishes and vocal support from the York, Nebraska community, where he served as Superintendent for 10 years.

Priorities for Dr. Lucas at Westside include building on its long heritage of academic and instructional excellence, renewed focus on the annual budget and strengthening relationships with state leaders, and immersing himself in Westside’s culture and legacy.

Dr. Lucas, a longtime educator with experience as an elementary school principal and 3rd grade teacher in addition to administrator, is also a sought after public speaker and presenter on educational topics. He and his wife, an Omaha native, are parents of four children.
