Derrek Ferguson has over 31 years of work experience in the engineering and design field. Derrek has held various roles in different companies, starting with their current role as a Site Design Engineering Technician at Westwood Professional Services since 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Civil Engineering Designer at Quiddity from 2021 to 2023. From 2020 to 2021, they served as a Senior Civil Designer at J.A. COSTANZA & ASSOCIATES ENGINEERING, INC, where they were responsible for the design build of two large-scale site developments.
Before that, Derrek held the position of Senior Civil Designer at IDS Engineering Group from 2016 to 2021, where they focused on flood drainage systems and large-diameter watermain design. Derrek also worked as a Senior Civil Designer at RPS North America from 2014 to 2016, assisting in project planning and design.
Derrek's earlier experience includes working as a Sales Representative at Charter Communications from 2012 to 2014, where they achieved notable sales performance. Derrek also worked at AECOM in various roles from 1996 to 2012, including Design Supervisor and Lead Designer. Prior to that, they were a CAD Operator and Engineering/Surveying Technician at U.P. Engineers and Architects from 1993 to 1996, and an Engineering/Surveying Technician at McGhie & Betts, Inc. from 1991 to 1993. Derrek began their career as a CAD Intern GIS Tech at the City of Rochester in 1989.
Throughout their career, Derrek has demonstrated expertise in civil engineering design, project planning, and technical support. Derrek has a strong background in large-scale site development, flood drainage systems, and watermain design.
Derrek Ferguson began their education in 1985 at John Marshall Senior High School, where they pursued a diploma in CAD/CADD Drafting and/or Design Technology/Technician. Derrek successfully completed their high school education in 1987. Following this, from 1987 to 1988, Derrek attended Finlandia University, where they focused on Civil Engineering. Although they did not obtain a degree during this time, it provided him with a foundation in Civil Engineering. Subsequently, from 1988 to 1991, Derrek enrolled in Rochester Community and Technical College, majoring in Pre-Engineering/Civil Engineering Technology and Surveying. Here, they obtained a degree in this field, further enhancing their knowledge and skills in Civil Engineering.
