Richard Frances-Moore

As Senior Head of the Motion Department, Richard ensures Weta Digital has the best tools and motion artists in the world.

He is responsible for looking ahead and driving developments that advance the fields of animation and keep Weta Digital amongst the best in the world.

Richard joined Weta Digital in 2001 to work on The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers as a character animator working on Gollum. He moved into the role of Senior Animator, helping to design and create the climactic battle sequence in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. He continued in this role for King Kong, where he led the pre-visualisation and animation of several key sequences in the film. Richard has been an integral part of the inner workings of animation at Weta for nearly 16 years.
