David Shapiro has a long history of work experience in product design. In 2008, they began as a Design Intern at Fisher-Price, where they worked in the Baby Gear Department and developed product designs for several projects. David was then promoted to Temporary Product Designer in 2009, where they designed consumer products and toys for the Baby Gear department, developed illustrations and graphic work for product fashions and trade-shows, and created 2D and 3D concepts for long range planning and development. In 2010, they were promoted to Senior Designer, where they were responsible for sketching product concepts, creating innovative and stylish baby gear, and making and testing prototypes with infants and toddlers. In 2016, they moved to Mindware, A Berkshire Hathaway Company, as a Product Developer, where they designed and project managed a multitude of quality toys and games, created complex parts in plastic, wood and fabric, and worked directly with manufacturers and overseas vendors to nail down design specifications and project timelines. That same year, they also worked at DecoPac, Inc. as an Art Director. In 2020, they started their own company, David Shapiro Design, as a Freelance Product Designer, and also worked at Turing Tumble, LLC as a Senior Product Designer, where they developed the aesthetic design for a new toy/puzzle system and designed complex CAD assemblies and mechanisms in Autodesk Inventor. Currently, they work at WhiteBoard Product Solutions as a Design Manager, where they monitor, schedules, and coordinates the activities of the design staff, manages projects, budgets, and schedules for a variety of clients, and mentors new and existing employees. David also works at Fueling Brains as a Design Manager.
David Shapiro attended the Savannah College of Art and Design from 2005 to 2009, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Industrial Design.
