Virgil Goodwine II

Virgil Goodwine II, Ph.D., serves as the Chair of the School of Digital Humanities & Performing Arts at Wilberforce University since July 2021, while also holding roles such as Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Instrumental Music and Ensembles with the Percussive Arts Society. As an endorsed artist for Pearl Corporation and Vic Firth Company, and a professional drummer for the Detroit Pistons and Detroit Lions, Virgil has extensive performance experience. Between 2014 and 2021, Virgil directed various instrumental programs and bands within the Oak Park School District and Oak Park High School, overseeing significant aspects of music education and student training. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Leadership in Higher Education from Capella University, a Master's in Music Education, a postgraduate degree in Music Education, and a Bachelor's in Mathematics from Central State University.
