Mariia Zalevskaya

Mariia Zalevskaya has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Mariia is currently working as a Scrum Master at NatWest since November 2021. Previously, they co-founded the WiMLDS London chapter in 2019. Before that, Mariia worked at Synechron, where they held multiple roles including Senior Consultant, Consultant, and Associate Consultant from October 2017 to November 2021. During their time at Synechron, they were responsible for data quality on big data, scripting in SparkSQL, and building a Data Lake for a key client. Prior to Synechron, they worked as a Data Scientist at HSBC in 2017, where they specialized in underwriting and collections and was involved in projects related to digital collections metrics. Mariia also has experience as a Data Analyst at Double Data, a Russian underwriting company, where they manually assessed data for training ML algorithms and optimized the dashboard for hit metrics.

Mariia Zalevskaya completed their Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (State University) (MIPT) from 2012 to 2016. During the same period, they also obtained another Bachelor's degree in Economics from The Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA).

Mariia further pursued their education and obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree with Distinction in Business Intelligence and Analytics from the University of Westminster in 2017.

In addition to their formal education, Mariia also earned certifications in Data Engineering with Google Cloud Specialization from Coursera in May 2020 and Professional Scrum Master I from Scrum.org in December 2017.
