Vincent Chiu has a strong background in data engineering and machine learning. Vincent is currently working as a Data Engineer at WineDirect since 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at Veeva Systems from 2022 to 2022. In this role, they designed and implemented components of a data lake and entity resolution system using various technologies such as Apache Airflow, Python, Docker, Java, and Apache Solr. Vincent also created cloud infrastructure for AI services using Amazon Web Services and Ansible.

Before joining Veeva Systems, Vincent worked at RBC from 2020 to 2021. Vincent initially served as a Data Scientist, where they developed a machine learning system for analyzing data quality and deployed a data reconciliation application using Apache Airflow and Docker. Later, they transitioned to a role as a Machine Learning Engineer, where they worked on creating machine learning models for market risk modeling using Apache Spark and scikit-learn.

In 2019, Vincent worked as a Data Scientist at RBC Amplify. During their time there, they created a market risk solution that placed in the top three teams in a tech demo and pitch competition. Vincent utilized Apache Spark and scikit-learn to develop machine learning models for this solution.

Vincent's work experience also includes a role as a Big Data and Machine Learning Researcher at Communications Research Centre in 2018. In this position, they developed a tool for visualizing base station bandwidth usage using Apache Spark and utilized Azure SQL Data Warehouse and Power BI for data storage and visualization, respectively.

Vincent's career began as a Data Science Intern at EnerNOC in 2015. Vincent conducted analysis on building energy usage and developed programs in R and Python to generate insights and reports. Vincent also created a web application for statistical reporting using the shiny package in R.

Vincent Chiu completed their Bachelor's Degree in Physics with a Minor in Mathematics from The University of British Columbia, between the years 2008 and 2014. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science in Computer Science with a specialization in Big Data at Simon Fraser University, spanning from 2017 to 2019.
