Sylvia James

Sylvia James is a seasoned professional in diversity and inclusion with extensive experience in the legal sector. Currently serving as Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer at Winston & Strawn LLP since September 2017, Sylvia previously held the position of Diversity Counsel at Baker Botts from November 2006 to September 2017. Sylvia's career also includes significant roles as Senior Counsel at Holland & Knight, where work focused on corporate diversity counseling for Fortune 500 companies, and Labor and Employment Associate at Scopelitis, Garvin, Light, Hanson & Feary, specializing in a variety of employment laws. Sylvia began their career as an Associate at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, where initial passion for diversity was ignited. Sylvia earned a J.D. from Duke University School of Law and an AB in Political Science from Vassar College.
