Janet Harris

Janet Harris has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Their most recent role is as the Executive Director/CEO of the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute, a position they have held since April 2022. Prior to this role, they served as the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) from July 2020 to April 2022 and as the Chief Programs & Marketing Officer from March 2018 to July 2020 at the same organization. Janet's earlier experience includes working as the Director of Programs at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute from January 2016 to February 2018, where they were responsible for facilitating public discourse and developing strategic partnerships. Before that, they served as the Director of Operations at the Information Network of Arkansas in 2015. From 2011 to 2015, Janet worked as the Deputy Auditor of State at the Arkansas Auditor of State office, where they implemented e-Government strategies and managed organizational change. Prior to that, they served as the Deputy Secretary of State at the Arkansas Secretary of State's office from 2003 to 2011, where they managed elections, designed e-Government programs, and developed partnerships with various stakeholders. Janet also worked as the Special Projects Director at the Arkansas Commissioner of State Lands from 1999 to 2003, conducting research and providing content for agency publications. In 1995, they worked as a District Aide for Congressman Ray Thornton, where they answered phone calls and researched bills in Congress. Janet's work experience showcases their expertise in strategic planning, program development, management, and government affairs.

Janet Harris has a strong educational background with a focus on public administration and political science. Janet completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Central Arkansas from 1991 to 1995. Following that, Janet pursued a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock from 1996 to 1999.

Recently, in 2021, Janet Harris attended the Harvard Kennedy School for Executive Education, where they engaged in a program focused on Public Administration. Additionally, they obtained certifications in "Public Narrative: Leadership, Storytelling, and Action" and "Nonprofit Financial Stewardship" from Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education in January 2021 and May 2020, respectively.
