Janet Seymour has a diverse work experience in the field of history and community engagement. Janet started their career in 1998 as the Director of Community Programming at the Chippewa Valley Museum, where they were responsible for overseeing exhibits and coordinating public programs. In 2005, they served as the Chief Operations Officer at the Girl Scouts of Indian Waters Council. Janet joined the Wisconsin Historical Society in 2006, initially as the Field Services-Local History Staff for the Northern Region, providing support to local history groups. Janet then took on the role of Interim Director of Outreach, leading a team in delivering community engagement programs and cultivating relationships with organizations. Currently, they serve as the Outreach Director, overseeing statewide community engagement initiatives and chairing a team conducting listening sessions for the development of a new statewide history museum. Janet has also worked as the National History Day regional contest coordinator at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. Janet's work experience highlights their expertise in history, program coordination, and community outreach.

Janet Seymour attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire from 1995 to 1999. During their time there, they pursued a degree in History and American Indian Studies, with a specific focus on Women's History and Wisconsin Indian History.
