Kevin Smith

Kevin Smith serves as the Regional Attorney Manager at the Wisconsin State Public Defender since January 2020, overseeing a team of over 20 attorneys in providing high-quality client-centered representation across various legal matters. Prior roles include Assistant State Public Defender, where representation focused on criminal and civil cases, and Local Attorney Manager, supervising a team of 15+. Additionally, Kevin coordinated statewide pretrial motion practices, working with attorneys to develop litigation strategies. Early experiences included internships at the Wisconsin State Public Defender's Waukesha Trial Office and the Federal Defender Services of Wisconsin, as well as a legal internship with the Frank J. Remington Center at the University of Wisconsin Law School. Kevin earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School, a Master’s in Music from Youngstown State University, and a Bachelor’s in Music from DePauw University, specializing in Saxophone Performance.
