Hanno Benz

Hanno Benz is the current Oberbürgermeister of Wissenschaftsstadt Darmstadt, a position held since June 2023. Prior to this, Benz served as the Abteilungsleiter for Public Affairs & Verbändemanagement at Mainova AG from March 2020 to June 2023, where responsibilities included developing political relationships and strategic advice for the Vorstand. Hanno Benz has extensive experience in public sector communication and consulting, having worked as a Senior Advisor at Johanssen + Kretschmer Strategische Kommunikation GmbH, and as an independent consultant focused on municipal and local government clients. Previous roles also include leadership positions at 1&1 Versatel and involvement in various supervisory and advisory capacities, such as membership on supervisory boards at ENTEGA AG, NaturPur Energie AG, and Sparkasse Darmstadt. Benz holds a Magister Artium degree in Political Science and German Studies from Goethe University Frankfurt.
