Nélida Gómez Quintero has worked in a variety of roles since 1988. Nélida began their career as a Researcher at the University of Panama, CIFLORPAN in 1988. Nélida then moved to the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in 1989, where they held roles such as Academic & Program Coordinator / Research Liaison, Liaison Officer and Scientist, and Scientific Coordinator. In 2014, they joined UniQuest as a Commercialisation Assistant, and UQ Business School as a Strategist and Research Assistant. In 2015, they worked as a Strategist at Anteo Technologies Pty. Ltd. and as a Business Partner & Science Advisor at Saber Panama Group. Nélida then joined CAF - Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina as a Tech Transfer Analyst in 2016 and SENACYT (Secretaría Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación) as a Tech Transfer & IP Specialist. In 2017, they became the Founder and R&D Coordinator of Wisy, where they coordinate grant proposals and execution, manages intellectual property, provides insights for product development, and raises non-dilutive capital. Nélida also provides foresight perspectives to strengthen Wisy's strategy and works with C-level staff on corporate development activities and with the Operations Manager on the organizational culture and transactional activities.

Nélida Gómez Quintero has a diverse educational background. Nélida obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Universidad de Panamá in 1984, followed by a Master of Science (MSc) in Pharmacognosy from the University of Rhode Island in 1987. Nélida then completed one semester of doctorate degree in Pharmaceutical Biology at Heidelberg University in 1993. Later that year, they obtained a Dr. rer. nat. in Chemical Ecology (Pharmazeutische Biologie) from Technische Universität Braunschweig. In 2012, they earned a Graduate Diploma in Project Management from the University of Louisville, Panama. In 2013, they obtained an Executive Education - Graduate Certificate in MBA from Quality Leadership University. Finally, in 2014-2015, they completed a Master's Degree in Business from The University of Queensland.
