Brett Morris

Brett Morris has extensive work experience in various financial leadership roles. Brett is currently serving as the Chief Financial Officer at Wise since February 2023. Prior to this, they held the same position at Business Systems from April 2021 to January 2023. Brett also worked as a Non-Executive Director at SocialGO from March 2010 to November 2021.

Among their notable positions, Brett served as the Chief Financial Officer at Olive Communications UK from April 2018 to April 2021, where they played a pivotal role in the company's growth and inclusion in the Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100. Additionally, they served as a Portfolio CFO at CAPRICORN CAPITAL PARTNERS UK LIMITED from July 2017 to March 2018.

Brett's experience also includes working as the Chief Financial Officer at Sandbox & Co from May 2016 to June 2017, where they focused on technology-led education SaaS businesses. Brett implemented successful equity fundraising, managed financial advisors, and developed new budgeting and business planning processes.

Furthermore, Brett worked as a Strategic Business Consultant and later as the Chief Financial Officer at Catalis from June 2012 to June 2016. During their tenure, they sold the stake of an existing fund investor, secured new investment capital, and restructured the group to generate shareholder value.

Before Catalis, Brett served as the Finance Director at Kuju Entertainment from January 2012 to June 2012, where they led the sale of the publishing business division and implemented a cost reduction plan.

Earlier in their career, Brett worked as the Chief Financial Officer at MUSHRIF Trading & Contracting Co. from July 2009 to May 2011, where they led a successful turnaround of the construction contracting group through cash flow optimization, debt restructuring, and a management buy-out. Brett also worked as a Senior Vice President at Abraaj Capital from January 2007 to April 2009, where they supported investee companies in redefining their strategies, implementing business plans, and managing cash flow.

Brett Morris has a strong educational background with a focus on finance and accounting. In 1988, they began their undergraduate studies at Witwatersrand University, where they earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accountancy and Taxation in 1990. Brett continued their education at the same university and obtained a Bachelor of Accountancy in 1992. In 1998, Morris pursued further education at Witwatersrand University and completed a Higher Diploma in Taxation in 1999. After a few years, they attended the London Business School in 2004 and 2005, earning an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in General Management and Finance. In addition to their academic qualifications, Morris holds the certification of Chartered Accountant from the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.
