Derek Klaver

Derek Klaver, CISSP has a diverse work experience in the field of cybersecurity. Derek is currently working as a Cyber Security Analyst at WithYouWithMe since February 2021. Prior to this, Derek was employed by the Royal Canadian Navy for several years. Derek served as an Integrated Cyber Defense Systems Engineering Officer for the Canadian Surface Combatant Project, where they were responsible for designing a "SOC in a box" to protect military assets. Derek also acted as the security lead for the combat systems section, overseeing a team of approximately 15 individuals. Before their role in cyber defense, Derek held the position of Naval Combat Systems Engineering Officer, where they led a team of technical professionals in the analysis, fault-finding, and maintenance of combat systems on ships. Overall, Derek Klaver has extensive experience in cybersecurity and engineering within the military sector.

Derek Klaver, CISSP, obtained their Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Engineering Physics from Queen's University from 2012 to 2016. Currently, they are pursuing their Master of Applied Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Royal Military College of Canada/Collège militaire royal du Canada, which is expected to be completed between 2020 and 2024. In addition to their educational background, Derek has also obtained the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)² in January 2022.
