Itay Harel

Itay Harel is a seasoned professional in cybersecurity and research, currently serving as the Cloud Threat Research Team Lead at Wiz since May 2024. Prior to this role, Itay was the Security Research Team Lead at Gem Security from August 2022 to December 2024, and held positions as a Software Engineer. Itay's experience also includes leadership in R&D at KayHut and serving as Cyber Security R&D Group Lead in Israeli Military Intelligence - Unit 8200. Additionally, Itay was the Class Commander in the prestigious Talpiot Program for a year and a half, and contributed as a Research Team Lead and Security Researcher during time in the Israel Defense Forces. Academically, Itay holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from Tel Aviv University and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
