Wendy Yan

Wendy Yan is the Vice President of Underwriting at WNC. Wendy has over 15 years of experience in affordable housing and community development.

Yan started their career at the Chinatown Service Center, where they served as the Director of Community Economic Development. In this role, they were responsible for initiatives that revitalized neighborhoods and improved economic conditions in Chinatown.

After five years at the Chinatown Service Center, Yan became a Senior Project Manager at MacFarland Costa Housing Partners (formerly Simpson Housing Solutions). There, they oversaw the development of affordable housing projects throughout California.

In 2010, Yan left MacFarland Costa Housing Partners to start their own real estate consulting firm that specialized in affordable housing. Wendy provided consultation services on all aspects of project management, including feasibility analysis, land entitlements, financing, and asset management.

Yan joined WNC in July 2011 and has been the Vice President of Underwriting since 2013. In this role, they are responsible for underwriting and approving loans for WNC’s portfolio.

Wendy Yan has a MA in Urban Planning from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Wendy Yan reports to Wilfred N. Cooper Jr., President & CEO. They are on a team with Sarah Arnold - VP, Asset Management, Tammy Bliss - Director, Construction Risk Management, and Melanie Wenk - EVP, Business Operations.
