Melissa Garrett

Melissa Garrett has extensive experience in the legal field, with a focus on employment and non-patent litigation. Melissa is currently serving as the VP Legal for Wolfspeed since April 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Cree as an Associate General Counsel from 2015 to 2021. In 2013, Melissa held a senior leadership role as Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, and Assistant Corporate Secretary at Kangaroo Express, where they were responsible for creating a collaborative and compliant working environment. Melissa also had experience in contract negotiation, including a $4 billion contract for supply distribution.

Before Kangaroo Express, Melissa worked at The Pantry, Inc. as an Associate General Counsel & Director of Employee Relations from 2012 to 2013. During their tenure, they drafted company policies and procedures related to employment and implemented systems to address employee concerns and claims more efficiently.

Their career started at Fisher & Phillips as an Attorney, where they worked on union campaigns, collective bargaining agreements, and NLRB hearings and elections. Melissa then moved to Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, where they specialized in employment discrimination litigation and provided support to managers and employees on performance issues.

Melissa's work experience also includes serving as an Attorney at Jackson Lewis, where they handled various aspects of employment litigation and provided strategic counseling on employment law.

Throughout their career, Melissa Garrett has demonstrated strong skills in negotiation, dispute resolution, communication, and compliance.

Melissa Garrett earned a B.A. degree in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1998. Melissa later obtained a J.D. degree in Law from Indiana University Bloomington, completing their studies in 2001.
