Orlando Barrun has extensive work experience in the field of information security and risk management. Orlando currently holds the position of Chief Information Security Officer at Wollongong City Council, where they are responsible for delivering and implementing the Information Security Strategy for the Illawarra Regional Councils. Prior to this role, they served as a Senior Director of Information Security & Risk at Carnival Corporation, where they provided strategic and tactical leadership in managing information security operations, audit & compliance assurance, and technology risk management. Orlando also held the position of Technology Risk & Compliance Manager at Carnival Australia, leading the company towards achieving PCI DSS compliance. Before joining Carnival Corporation, Orlando worked as the Manager of Governance, Risk & Compliance at Helloworld Limited. Orlando also gained experience in various IT roles at Accenture, Inc., Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Smart Communications, Inc., AyalaPort Makati Inc., Smart Communications, Inc., and Integrated Computer Systems, Inc. throughout their career.
Orlando Barrun completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics & Communications Engineering from the University of Santo Tomas, where they studied from 1986 to 1991.
In addition to their degree, Orlando has obtained various certifications throughout their career. Orlando obtained the CISSP certification from the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2) in December 2000. Orlando also obtained several certifications from ISACA, including CRISC in March 2017, Certified Information Security Manager® (CISM) in September 2015, Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT® (CGEIT) in May 2015, and COBIT 5 Foundation in July 2014.
Orlando further expanded their certifications by obtaining the MOF - Foundation certification from Microsoft in December 2012 and the ITIL ver 3 - Foundation certification from the Office of Government Commerce. Orlando also obtained the PCI ISA certification from the PCI Security Standards Council in November 2018 and the PCIP certification in February 2019.
Additionally, Orlando has taken the CBCP (exam only) and ITIL ver 1 - Foundation, although the institutions and specific dates of these certifications are not provided.
