Kavinya E. Makau

Kavinya E. Makau serves as the Director of Policy & Communications at Womankind Worldwide since January 2021, focusing on policy advocacy related to violence against women and girls. Previously, Kavinya held the position of Interim Co-Director for Policy & Communications at Equality Now, managing initiatives under the Solidarity for African Women's Rights Coalition from May 2013 to July 2016. Early in the career, Kavinya was the Director of Innovation in Leadership at Akili Dada and gained extensive experience at the Urgent Action Fund-Africa as a Program Officer, Assistant Program Officer, and Intern, focusing on women's human rights and related issues. Kavinya's educational background includes a Master of Laws in International Legal Studies from Georgetown University Law Center and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Reading.
