Bob Coyne has a long and varied work experience. Bob began their career in 1983 as a Member of the Technical Staff at Symbolics Inc., Graphics Division. In 1991, they became a Software Developer at Information International Inc. Bob then moved to Nichimen Graphics in 1995, where they served as Director of Software Development. In 1999, they joined AT&T Labs Research as a Principal Technical Staff Member. In 2003, they became President and Founder of Semantic Light LLC. From 2007 to 2017, they were a PhD research in computer science (computational linguistics) at Columbia University, where their PhD thesis was entitled "Painting pictures with words -- from theory to system." Bob also worked as an Adjunct Faculty (Computer Science) at Columbia University in the City of New York from 2017 to the present. Most recently, they were Co-Founder and CTO at WordsEye from 2013 to the present.
Bob Coyne began their educational journey in 1976, when they enrolled at Columbia University and earned a BS in Computer Science. Bob then went on to the University of California, Berkeley, where they pursued graduate study in Computer Science - Artificial Intelligence from 1980 to 1981. In 2007, they returned to Columbia Engineering and earned an MS in Computer Science. Finally, from 2009 to 2016, they completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science - computational linguistics at Columbia University.
