Anup Gurung has extensive experience in public health, particularly in the field of communicable diseases and HIV response. Currently serving as the Country Liaison Officer for the World Health Organization in the Kingdom of Tonga, Anup Gurung has held various significant roles within WHO since June 2015, including Team Leader for Communicable Disease. Prior experience includes serving as a Medical Officer for HIV care and treatment in Papua New Guinea, where responsibilities included scaling the HIV response and designing national surveillance initiatives. Anup Gurung also has a strong background in technical leadership, demonstrated while working with FHI 360 and Family Health International, focusing on STI prevention and treatment. Anup Gurung holds an MD in Preventive and Social Medicine from Armed Forces Medical College and an MBBS from the University of Pune.
